Mikrotik Outdoor Enclusure and RIC522 - Mount GPS module

Tue Aug 23, 2011 2:04 am

We have been looking around for a GPS module that works with the USB interface on an RB433UAH. We found one that works well at a reasonable price:

The issue I now have is finding an enclosure that has approximately 3 inches of space on the top of the enclosure or the flat panel to mount the GPS device. I have also been looking for an enclosure that has some sort of cooling fins built into the enclosure to help passively radiate heat in extreme environments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sergio,

I think you could try the following unexpensive outdoor NEMA box:

I found it on ebay and works perfectly fine for my outdoor Mikrotik unit and it comes with some additional space to mount smaller devices in the cover area. They also have a version with more whole on the top for additional RF connector, if needed.

Thanks a lot for the link to this enclosure. I am certainly looking for something like this, however, it would be better if it was slightly larger, had the flat space on top for the GPS antenna and was white. I like the fact that this enclosure has cooling fins. I dont understand why there are not more manufacturers of enclosures for use in hot environments. We operate in Iraq and it gets ridiculously hot in the summers (140F degrees). Thanks again for your response.
