10 Gigabit

Sun Aug 28, 2011 3:07 am

Hi everyone.
I just got L3 internet service, and I need alot of bandwich ( IPTV)

they are giving me 8Gbps, so I need to connect my 8 linux servers to this router that I plan on buying.

do you guys have any idea if there is 10Gbps nics that support mikrotik router OS and do you recommend any hardware as processing power etc etc?

thnx in advance.

ps. There is gonna be alot of processing and lots of bandwidth usage, I planned to utilize 80% of the bandwidth at all times.

Well you can go with Cisco or Brocade and pay a fortune. Vyatta is the only linux based router that I know officially supports 10gbps interfaces. They're actually open source though so there is no reason why Mikrotik couldn't use the drivers.

In any case when you're pushing that much data don't try and multitask unless you have really powerful hardware.

Well actually the hardware is only gonna process traffic as it goes and comes through devices.
