Notifications not executed on probe service restore? Dude3.6

Mon Aug 29, 2011 3:31 am

Hi All,

We have a problem that intermittently when an outage is resolved the attached notifications do not execute.

We have created a variation of the ping probe. The only difference is we attach slow probe times for use on a specific network. All configuration of the probe has been done at the Network Map level. All devices on this map have identical default settings on the polling configuration tab. The probe has been tested and is working fine.

We have had some infrequent occasions that when a device outage is restored, the notifications attached to the probe are not executed. This includes log to events, log to syslog and our custom notifications. When that same device went down, all the notifications executed correctly. When we realise the device is restored, the network map shows the error has cleared. The device outage tab advises the outage is resolved. Only the restore notifications did not execute.

The device configuration has been checked and is identical to working devices.
Other devices that have gone down and restored before / during / after executed correctly.

Any suggestions what might have gone wrong here and how to make sure the notifications always execute?

thanks,

Attached a small screen shot showing green device, "resolved" outage but no entry in the dude syslog.
Note the existance of resolved outages in the syslog, just not from this device.

Any tips? We have been using the outage ACK functionality, are there any issues with this?
