When we first started converting to PPPoE from static assignments a couple years ago, we put a 24 hour session limit in place. This was suggested to me by someone, or maybe I read it somewhere, but I can't remember who or where. For the most part, it works fine. The mikrotik closes the session after 24 hours and the customer router reconnects within a matter of seconds. But sometimes, for no apparent reason, a customer router will not reconnect after session-end and they will have to reboot the router.
What are the reasons a session limit would be recommended? We are a fixed-wireless ISP with the customer router acting as the PPPoE client, so PPPoE accounts don't "roam" on the network.
Thanks.
