remote access

Mon Oct 03, 2011 2:01 am

not able to remotely access a 750 router from the net using the static address provided by ISP. is there a setting in there I'm missing. the message i get is "because the server were this page is located isn't responding". i have no problem inside the network accessing the router using the static IP.

Sounds like routing problem. Can you ping the ip?

i think it sounds like the ISP is blocking upstream. They sometimes have firewall rules in place. you should check with them.

check if you do not have firewall in place that drops connections frm outside world to your router, as that is part of default configuration.

Also, check /ip services weather you have set up some address/network from where services can be accessed.

I'm having exact same problem except with 2nd router behind modem.
I can ping it but can't access the IP or domain or winbox or anything.
It's not the ISP.
Have you had any luck?

the default configuration you mention, is that on the mikrotik or the modem? if the Mikrotik where's the setting?

i have the /ip services all checked or enabled. is there another setting that needs to be added?

thank you. it is in the default configuration. i added /tools macserver all and disabled the 4th(numbers 3) /ip firewall filter rules. my 493ah doesn't come with those defaults and never experienced the problem. thanx again for helping a rookie.
