you can lose connectivity to your router, under certain circumstances, if you upgrade to v5.9

I have an rb1100 that uses a metarouter for qos.

After upgrading, remotely i might add, after the reboot, all the ethernet ports in the qos vm enumerated to all different names.
I'm am expecting the 2 ports to show up as ether1, and ether2, but after the upgrade they came back as ether4 & 5.

Since none of the bridges or rules where based on the new enumerations I lost that site and had to go there.

So... BE WARNED!

which version did you have before?

same thing take place in RB4XX & RB7XX

The prior release was 5.8

Also... I just checked it on another router that has 3 meta's running and they ALL enumerated wrong!

The renaming of interfaces is confirmed on metarouters on rb49x router. I also had difficulties with high load on metarouters in general on rb493g. Profile stated metarouter-fs stealing spare resources. I have to get som sleep now, MTCINE exam to morrow if MT needs support.rif files I could provide this tomorrow.

Rename is still present in upgrading to 5.10 . Previous version was 5.8

I no problems upgrading 433ah's + Rb750's, 411, 711, etc. on the standby side of my network, so I continued to upgrade the rest of my network but had problems upgrading 2X 493ah's, both from 5.6 to 5.9 lost ip addresses + interface ports on reboot were 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19, but at least both retained wireless registration and with mac-telnet was able to enter required configuration, but this has highlighted two additional steps for me before updating (1) only update at a convenient time so if a upgrade fails I can travel to that site (2) always have backups done before starting

Downgrading back to 5.8 from 5.10 will also loose the IP address, but the interface is kept.

The port enumeration problem has been fixed in 5.12
