RX/TX on dual antennas

Mon Feb 13, 2006 12:12 am

Hi all,

as you know there are some limitations to the TX power but no limitation to the RX gain. So I am exploring some asymmetrical solutions. One of these is the Nstreme2 where 2 cards are used: one for RX one for TX. But I Was also considering some other solutions for example using the ubiquiti SR5 cards where 2 connectors are available (I don't know if you can use both at the same time). So I Was wondering if someone has tested similar solutions where the radio sub system has 2 connectors one for RX and one for TX.

Another question: can anybody suggest some good (expensive) minipci cards with high RX gain?

P.S. We already tested the Linksys WRT54

Thank you.

You can use the two antenna connectors present on practically any Atheros based MiniPCI card as you want to (one for RX with high gain antenna, one for TX with antenna gains adjusted to fit your regulatory limits).

I can't fit your statement about the Linksys WRT54 in here?!

Simply saying that what we were looking for something similar to the linksys WRT54 which has 2 antenna connectors, so that one can be used for RX and one for TX.

Thank you for your answer, we will look for dual connector minipci.

We also have some ubiquiti SR5 and they have two connectors, but I cannot find the technical specs to identificate which one is used as RX or TX. If someone can help...

If you have a card with two connectors you can DEFINE which one should be used for TX and RX in RouterOS...
