port doesnt show traffic... its master port does.

Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:23 pm

ok i have to admit this is a cheap and lame way of turning a Mikrotik 493G device into a "managed" switch but i am limited when it comes to money.

the problem is this: on the ports it doesnt show the traffic. it only shows the traffic on master port for the port selected.
so if i am passing traffic on port 9 which has a master port of 1 it wont display traffic in winbox on 9. it shows it on 1.
this defeats the purpose of monitoring my network.
if i have my users plugged into port 7 which has master port of 1 i cant see it if i have my main internet on 6 which is also master port 1!

basically the simple question is: how can i make the port thats plugged into show the traffic and not the master port?

(see attached)

[[update: i disabled the master port setting on the ports and added them all to one bridge. its working as intended and traffic is passing through just fine.]]
