User manager basics

Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:29 pm

Please help!

I am struggling to set up a hotspot. I have everything working, had my users added under ip-hotspot in winbox, and thought I was set up. Now i found out I need to implement user manager rather so that clients can monitor their monthly data usage on the horspot status page.

I have read up alot, but still do not know much.

Does anyone know of a tuturial where I can see how to use user manger in winbox.

I have one routerboard(eth1 internet, eth2 hotspot users).

Thanks!!!!

Hi,
I'm willing to guide you.
But firstly can you specify what address does your ether1 and ether2 use?
I use RB751U-2HnD and the default address for ether2 is 192.168.88.1 and address for ether1 is not set; ether1 will follow the dhcp address assigned by the Internet modem.
Is this the same with your Mikrotik?

Thanks alot for all the help.

I would like to try do it myself following a guide, if that doesnt work we can use team viewer.

Thats right my eth1 is a dhcp client of the adal modem. My eth2's(hotspot interface) has an ip of 10.0.0.1.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

So I have user manager up and running. I access it through the web interface.

I have now deleted all the users in Winbox>Ip>Hotspot>Users. If someone now connects to the network he/she gets an IP from the DHCP server, but they are not directed to a login page, I have tried to read up on this, but no luck yet.

How can I have my users be directed to the User Manager login page automatically? Also how do I access the User Manager login page?
