Dynamic queue setup

Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:41 am

I would like to ask if it is possible to setup dynamic queue or something that can manage the bandwidth to a maximum possible? For example, I have a 1.5Mbps which is setup with simple queue at 1Mbps down and .5Mbps up. Now the problem is, as we all know, once either upload or download is maxed out, the connection will be affected. Is it possible to setup a queue that this download and upload will adjust automatically to utilize all 1.5Mbps? Example, I should be able to use all (1.5Mbps) for download if nobody is using on upload or vice versa.

If that is possible, any assistance is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Modify your queue as stated below.
upload=1500k
download=1500k
total-limit-at=1500k

Hi Skillfull

Thank you for your reply. Apparently, I am getting an error when I tried. Please refer to attached for your reference, maybe I did something wrong.

As per attached file, Figure 1 to 3 is the current setup with 2.5M down/1.5M up or a total of 4Mbps. Per you instruction, I changed all values to 4M both download and upload (Figure 1 to 3) and added Figure 4 and set Total limit at 4M. Apparently, when I apply the changes, I got an error message "Couldn't change Simple Queue <main> - total-max-limit less than total-limit (6)".

Please advice what's next.

In picture 4, set total-max-limit=4M too.

Also change all Queue type from "default-small" to "default" in pictures 3 and 4. There had been reported issues with default-small

Hi Skillful, thank you again.

I have tried to setup total-max-limit=4M too and the error disappears. I have attached the graph last night and saw that the actual usage reached over 5Mbps which should be 4Mbps only. Apparently I missed to change the Queue type from "default-small" to "default" until now so we will see again tonight if that fixed that issue. Or if there is any other thing that we missed, anybody please assist me.

Thank you again.
