have you upgraded the bootloader ?? what was the LAST version and firmware on your router.

what version you have upgraded to RB...

You can upgrade the bootloader....

Had same problem with a 411 board. You need to download an xmodem server app, a few freebies out there. Yoy will also need Hyperterminal or similar like putty and netinstall.

Step.1 connect board to pc via serial cable and eth cable (do not power up yet)
step.2 Open Hyperlink and open a session to com1 with 115200 .8.1 no control

With finger poised over the spacebar, power up the RB and tap the spacebar within 2secs

use the menu options to set the RB to upgrade firmware via tftp

close terminal session but do not power off RB

connect to RB with Xmodem App and upload the firmware file available from www.routerboard.com
Close Xmodem app and open a new hyperterminal session as before
You should see the reboot option appear in the terminal window. sy yes to load firmware and reboot

Now you can go through the standard netinstall procedure

I am sure someone knows a simpler way but this worked for me fine

Just to clarity this is firmware we are reparing here not the Ros itself. Same as flashing a BIOS on a PC

-Download the netinstall-version 4.17 routerboard
-Perform the update procedure and it worked perfect!
-Update to version 5.14 once the home router
