RB751U as wireless client and AP

Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:00 am

Hi,

After coming across this article on setting up the 751U to use the wireless signal as a client. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Connect_t ... ss_Network I was wondering if it's possible to do both out of the 751U. Basically use it to receive a wireless signal, and still function as an AP. I was hoping that it would be possible, but since the mode is in the physical wireless settings, rather than the virtual, I assume it's not possible.

TIA,

Carlos.

You'll need a 433 or something that can handle more than one card to have the device run as an AP and client.

You may be able to use WDS repeater, but it is dependent on both AP's using the same chipset manufacturer.

If the signal was provided by another RB in ap-bridge mode then you can use WDS.

Thanks for the information. I think a 493 with a pair of R52's is going to be the best solution.

Thanks again,

Carlos.
