DHCP not working

Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:23 am

Hello. I just unwrapped my new routerboad 435g yesterday. I have managed to get everything working except the dhcp server. Not on eth2 or wlan1. I have read the manual and this does not seem to work for me. Please help, I have spent all afternoon trying to figure what I have done wrong.
Thanks

Are the ports in a bridge? If they are you don't apply the server to the ports but to the bridge. Same applies to your IP address.

I had them bridged at first and applied the server to the bridge. When this did not work I did a complete reset and tried eth2 and wlan1 with dchp server and no bridges. Right now there are no ports in the bridge. Is there an easy way to send you my configuration. I still have a lot to learn. I usually use ddwrt. This is a much better system if i can get it running.

Reset configuration, put interfaces in bridge, give IP to the new interface and run

/ip dhcp-server setup

I am having a lot of trouble with this. My router is has default ip of 192.168.88.1 . I have eth2 and wlan1 bridged on bridge1. I am setting up dhcp server on bridge1. What should I set DHCP Address Space to? Gateway for DHCP Network? DHCP Relay? Obviously I am doing something wrong. Thanks

"give IP to the new interface and run" Am I missing a step here?

Use the dhcp setup wizard.

I am using the setup wizard. Ip>Dhcp sercer>dhcp setup. Using webfig v5.2 . There are no defaults showing up. DHCP Address Space shows 0.0.0.0/0. I input 192.168.0.0/24 for this. and 192.168.0.1 for gateway and relay show up. 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254 shows up as well. Still no dhcp on eth2 and wlan1.

I am guessing I need addresses in ip>addresses. I only see the default on eth1 of 192.168.88.1 and cannot figure out or find the documentation on this.

Correct, you will need an IP address on whatever interface you are trying to use the dhcp server. Once you have that, the wizard will automatically fill in the information for you. You shouldn't really have to change any information in the dhcp setup wizard.

Sorry for the late reply. I got it up and running and posted that it worked. For some reason my post never showed up on the forum.
Thanks
