Please Educate :D

Wed May 19, 2010 9:36 am

Hey to all that understand Mikrotik!

I have a question that has been bugging me for a while and i just cannot seem to find out through the mighty Google or the Forum and im sure its crazy simple but... Would anyone mind explaining what the numbers on the end of the IP addresses are for? I dont have a clue other than use /24 i dont even know what its called! I think i missed this lesson somehwere!

Are there more numbers? Is there a reference somewhere on how and when to use different numbers?

That number is a subnet mask.

And here is the helper table of subnet masks

There are also some videos on youtube which are a different approach. Do a search for either ccna subnetting or subnetting.
