Using ospf to create a fail over broadband

Thu May 31, 2012 3:27 pm

Hi
I’m trying to accomplish the above and although I managed to get this working fine in a lab(using GNS3) I’m having issues getting the ospf neighbours to communicate.

Basically I have a cisco LNS at one end which is terminating the l2tp connection into a vrf. The ADSL router has an ip of 198.18.1.2/29 (the ADSL router is a zyxel p-600). I’ve put a loopback on the cisco of 198.18.1.254/32. I’ve then created an ospf router in the vrf and given the networks of 198.18.1.0 0.0.0.7 area 42 and 198.18.1.254 0.0.0.0 area 42.

On the routerboard 450 I have the assigned the ip 198.18.1.3/29 to interface 5 (and pugged the adsl router in there). I have also set a default route of 0.0.0.0/0 to 198.18.1.2. Then I’ve create an ospf are as 42 and added networks of 198.18.1.0/29 and 10.42.1.0/24 (I’ve assigned 10.42.1.254 to interface 1)

I can ping everything fine, from the routerboard I can ping the loopback on the cisco and from the cisco I can ping the interface of the routerboad.

Can any one help explain why the two neighbours are not communicating and how I may fix this?

Thanks
