Books?

Fri Jul 06, 2012 8:10 pm

Hello,
I currently am making a wireless network and I was wondering if there are any books I could read that you guys may recommend. I have currently read both the MikroTik books. I am into networking and understand bridging, switching, and some routing. Although I do need to brush up on my routing protocols and firewalling/security.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Thanks

What books have you read? There are not many books about Mikrotik, but there is wiki.

Have you checked this one?

Ive read both Learn RouterOS and RouterOS by example. Ive read the parts of the wiki as well. I guess im looking for some books that would explain networking better. I mean I get the basic ideas of switching, bridging, but routing is a bit blurry. There seems to be alot more to it than I can just figure out on my own. Any ideas on where I should start?

The wiki and forums along with trial and error is a great way to learn. You could also do some Mikrotik training.

Hi,

I also would like to buy a book, which is better Learn RouterOS or RouterOS by example?

I have some experience with mikrotik but I want to go more depth specially for Wireless, mangling and QoS.

I cant decide which book to buy...

Thanks

both books are for beginners, giving only initial information and basics. for in-depth, you could read our wiki, watch tiktube training videos, or come to the MUM conferences

Personally I found that routeros by example to be more informative. but he is right the books are entry level. the wiki and forum boards have some really good insight on qos.
