station connection

Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:16 pm

Hello,
I have an RB411 that I have in station mode and would like to connect it to an ap(not mikrotik) running in WEP security mode. When I run a scan on the RB411 I can see the SSID of the AP that I would like the RB411 to connect to but, I don't know how to have it connect with a WEP Key. The reason for the WEP configuation is because of a software limitation that cannot be changed. Thanks for the help.

If you click wireless there will be a security profile tab. Create a new profile with the encryption you need. Click on interface tab, double click Wlan, click wireless tab and select the security profile you just created.

Egate,
Thank you for your reply. When I go into the security profile there is no area for WEP, only WPA or WPA2. I know WEP is an old security mode and is easily hacked but this is where the hardware limitation is right now. This is only temporary. Thanks again for the help.

Can try WPA EAP with Tkip group and Tkip unicast.
