750G crashes with RouterOS 5.20

Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:36 pm

Hello,

After upgrade from 5.16 to 5.20 my 750G started random crashing, logging something like
system error critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown by watchdog timer
It running 1 PPPoE server, 2 bgp sessions, 3 ospf areas.
On 5.16 version its uptime was 3-4 months without any problems.

How can I backtrace this crashes and find the way to solve this problem ?

I have similar issues with RB951 and 5.20/2.41. The gaps in the attached ping chart show when the watchdog restarts happened. I have downgraded to 5.19/2.39 and will report back after a while.

Thanks for your reply. Our users cannot wait, so I changed hardware to RB800/5.20/1.39.
It seems that on powerpc platform this problem doesn't exist.

Balu75,

I reverted back to 5.19 but then I noticed that my CPU frequency dropped to an incorrect value of 175mhz - this caused similar lock ups like before. After a config reset CPU frequency returned to 300mhz (default) and the device runs without issues on 5.19 since then.

I will not load 5.20 on any 700 or 900 router because I feel the release is too resource intensive.
