I am having a few problem with my 5.8 links falling over and dropping off everyone every so often. It may be 1 hour or 10 hours, seams very random.
It seams to do it with both links, but not at the same time.

Uplink site has a 532 with CM9 and SR5 ver 2.9.11
Hill site 1 has 532 with CM9 and SR2 ver 2.9.11
Hill site 2 has 532 with SR5 and SR2 ver 2.9.11
Both links sit around the -65 to -72 mark
Most client are connected to another router (532 or 512) at the hill sites and the 2.4 links are up for weeks.
Clients use pppoe so need to hit the connect.
Was 2.9rc7 which did it also.
No one here uses 5.8 or even 2.4 so not really interference
One uses 5805 the other 5825.
From memory before I had the second site (just site 1) it would do it. So I dont think it is a frequency problem

No one complains as it only takes seconds to sort it self out, but would be good to not have the glitch so everyone does not have to login again.

I have been fighting with this problem in the 2.4GHz range for months. I get these random odd disconnects, on both my backhauls and on some of my clients. I've tried changing cards, frequencies, different antennas, I've double checked for moisture, or anything else that could explain this, but I have yet to find anything that explains it. With the new 2.9.12 I can monitor the SNR and noise floor. All link have >25 SNR and noise floors <-90. I do not believe it is a interference issue, but I am having trouble finding any other reason.

Does anyone have any insight to what causes this so it can be addressed?

At the other end the router has a couple of clients and they do not get disconnected (802.11b) but still loose there pppoe and have to login.
The outage is smaller than the 5 min so the router does not re boot.

This link has SR5 at both ends into 29dB grids

Could it be birds sitting on the horn of the antenna?

I have a similar problem with a Mikrotik router working as a client, but my client disconnects every eight minute. The only settings I have changed is that I enabled WEP. The signal-strength is steady at -74dBm to -75dBm.

Yes have it sorted now. One end is running as AP bridge and the other station wds. Hope this helps

yes, the links have not dropped out since making the changes. Some times they may have been up for a couple of days and the other times just hours. Works 100% so far.

Would this solution work on an AP with 20 clients hanging off it do you think? I wasn't sure doing the WDS thing with so many clients was a goof idea

I am getting the no beacon thing every few hours, the AP is not RouterOS (yet) but the routerOS client is the only one that has this problem.

I would like to switch my network to routeros but this problem worrys me

I had the problem on the backhaul links which are point to point. From what you are saying its your point to multi point links, which I am not sure, but I have them set to ap bridge @ 2.4GHz.

This troublesome unit is a client end of a backhaul link.

I was thinking if it does this with a backhaul it woudl surely do it with a PtMP setup.

My users run applications that would notice 10 seconds of downtime.

Clients connecting in at 2.4GHz can be up for months without a drop off, but it was the back haul links that I could never keep up for more than a couple of days. This would cause the client to loose the pppoe connection. Now they never loose it. When changes were made it did not drop the pppoe connection of those currently connected which surprised me.

Suggest if you were to change any settings do it at night and have a backup plan to reverse any changes should it fail.

I am using RB500 units so I dont think I can use nstreme, correct me if I am wrong. (I will work but not sure if good in the long run)
