Hi
We are an ISP , we provide broadband services in India. As of now we run Cisco ISG + SCE with external Radius Servers ( from Broadhop ) for authentication and bandwidth management. We are trying a setup where our primary objective is to use Mikrotik Routers as controllers ( Hotspot Mode Only ) with external Radius Servers. Users along with their profiles will be created and stored externally and will be dynamically pushed into the Controller after user-authentication. To start with , we are using a User-Manager ( from Mikrotik ) as a standard radius server + Policy Engine + User Database. It is integrated with two Mikrotik Controllers in our demo setup. So far so good , now I have some specific questions -
1) As we see, User Manager is capable of creating Simple Queus for Bandwidth Management , but we know that Queue Trees are more efficient tools to acheive highly effcient bandwidth management schemes . So is there any way by which we can create queue tress dynamically inside hotspot through User Manager ? What I mean to say , to acheive more Granular QoS , we should not write anything inside hotsopt statically , everything will be downloaded from the User Manager on the fly when a paricular user gets authenticated.
2) If it is not possible via User-Manager , do any commercial Radius Server satifies the criteria ?
3) In Mikrotik, the L4_REDIRECTION is a very basic thing where only a webpage from a external competer opens up , its not a portal. Is there any specific API's in User Manager by which we can develop a portal ? If it is not there in User- Manager , then do any commercial radius server designed to work with Mikrotik Controllers provide API's so that we can develop a Portal ?
4) Please facilitate me by a configuration where I can segregate the Bandwidth Management part in a seperate entitiy, its being done in a "Hotspot" now in present scenario, but more conventional scenario is to do it in a seperate box usually residing upstream of the controller but surely it is on the data-path of the information flow from the susbcribers. In this way we can increase the number of subscribers catered by each Controller.
Any suggestion is most welcome. Thanks in advance.
