btest

Fri May 05, 2006 3:39 am

I´m a new kid on the block and would like to use btest to give my clients chance to test their bandwith when connected to PC Router by hotspot mode. In my tests it doesn´t work when hotspot server is running, and in UDP protocol it only work in one way not in both. Somebody has some experience about it? Could you tell me wich is better option to clients test bandwith? Thanks in avance.

Hi.

I've noticed similar problems from time to time.

Here are some suggestions:

- Try performing the tests to different IP addresses on the MikroTik.

- Sometimes the tests don't like to work if the client is being NAT'd

- Make sure there isn't a firewall interfering on the client (disable it temporarily)

- Try reducing the packet size of the test packets (if this works, try using mangle rules to reduce the TCP MSS for syn packets)

- Try a different MikroTik Bandwidth Test utility (there are two that I'm aware of: 2.1b and 0.1 -- oddly enough, 0.1 is newer than 2.1b)
