RB411AH power circuit

Wed Jun 05, 2013 1:57 pm

Hello all,

Following an incorrect grounding, this board has stopped working. The problem is with the component mounted on the gate of the mosfet Q801 (9576GM) shown in the picture. Bypassing the component the board works. Since it is not identified by any silkscreen, somebody knows what kind of component it is?

Thanks

It'll be a resistor, fairly low Ohm value. I don't have a RB411AH immediately at hand right now, but if I happen across one tonite at the bench, I'll try to get you a more exact answer. But, if you're in a hurry, I'd probably consider replacing it with something in the 5-10 Ohm range.

That resistor will effectively "slow" the gate turn-on, reducing power supply EMI, and improve stability. Running with no resistor may work well, and may not - it'll vary from unit to unit based on many of the actual component charateristics in the power supply.
