Webserver not running on MikroTik

Fri May 19, 2006 12:15 am

Hello,

The router was setup through Winbox and everything has been running well for three weeks, however today when I use Winbox to connect I get a connection refused error/ web server is not running. I can ssh to it. From within an ssh session, where can I start the web server?

Thank you,

James

If using 2.8, sometimes you have to specify port 80 after the IP address. Not sure if this works with 2.9, but I've seen this a few times with 2.8 after using winbox to connect to router running a non-standard port. Otherwise, reboot the router via ssh and see if that helps.

Thanks for the repy. Using version 2.9 and rebooted it several times to no avail. Also cannot connect via http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx to get download the Winbox. Either the server is not running or the firewall is blocking requests internally, which shouldn't be happening. Any ideas on how to start the web server via ssh?

Thank you,

James

It's not something you can start or stop (for winbox to work anyway).

Under IP -> Services you can enable/disable the www service which is how you can download winbox. I think you can also browse to http://IP_ADDRESS/winbox/winbox.exe to get it manually.

Are you running the Hotspot module?

Interesting...I thought winbox was supposed to work even if the www service was disabled. Hmmm. What version of 2.9 are you using?

WinBox works in "secure mode" without port 80 or web service running. Make sure you have an updated winbox.exe.
