Dude on linux

Sun May 28, 2006 4:11 am

Well, a few observations. I have set Dude up on a FC5 server with the server running there under wine.
If I use Dude client on the FC5 server, everything works. Link info on the map is updated, and if you cursor over the device it will display the graph.
If I use Dude client on a Windows box and connect to the FC5 server running the Dude server, it works fine.
If I use Dude client on another FC5 box and connect to Dude server on the FC5 server, it will draw the map and put the links in correctly. But after the initial values in the links, it never updates them again. Also if I cursor over a device it will show the loading chart but that is as far as it gets.
I am using RC9.

I tried The Dude under Linux (also FC5), but it does complain about not being able to connect to local server and thus does nothing.
LocalMedium: CreateFile failed: 231
~LocalMedium: cio failed: 1460
    ->void MainWindow::onMessengerFail(IFailEvent*)
        ->void WindowManager::close(const vector<string>&)
        <-void WindowManager::close(const vector<string>&)
messenger fail: Connection to local server failed
        ->void MainWindow::onClose(IEvent*)
mmanag ref: 1
            ->virtual MirrorManager::~MirrorManager()
            <-virtual MirrorManager::~MirrorManager()
        <-void MainWindow::onClose(IEvent*)
    <-void MainWindow::onMessengerFail(IFailEvent*)
Also, I do not find the directory it is installing itself to.

Connect to it remote, 127.0.0.1 on that box. Also the server must run as root. It should be in your .wine folder.

Just FYI I get the same behavior as listed above in the beta.
