couldn't continue - modem did not respond

Wed May 09, 2012 10:46 am

I connect Huawei E3131 to RB751G via USB. I can establish internet connection through ppp-out1 interface, which is fine.

Problem is that I can't see PPP Info details like Current Operator, Signal Strength. When I click on 'Info...' button in PPP Info screen I get the following error message:
Couldn't continue - modem did not respond (6)
Appreciate if somebody could give me advice if this is a matter of the 3G modem itself or ROS configuration.

hi

Did you get the Huawei E3131 working?

I found a topic where it is said that you should make a Support Output File and send it to Mikrotik support.

I have the Huawei E3131 and searched if it is compatible with Mikrotik, this thread is the closest thing that i found.

Hello, what I need to do to run the E3131 on Mikrotik? For me is the lack of ports. Thanks.

You will need to disable the hilink feature of the E3131. Steps can be found at: http://blog.phoenixhaven.net/2012/09/11 ... lup-modem/

Ok, I've been busy for the entire day to disable hilink on my linux pc, no luck!

http://192.168.1.1/html/switchProjectMode.html makes it a modem ....temporally, and there is no windows drivers for the modem so I cant communicate with the dam thing.

AT^U2DIAG=0

that code makes it a permanent modem, apparently

so does anyone know how I can make my Huawei E3131 work on mikrotik, nice speeds tho... but only works on PC, the modem was expensive tho, so I don't want to trash the dongle
