Invisible Dude clogging HDD

Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:21 am

I've an old but good RB532A with a 128MB HDD I thought I might run purely as a Dude (3.6) server. So I did a minimum RouterOS installation plus Dude and that worked OK, so then I uploaded a saved Dude config. to it from an old PC which was my previous Dude server.

Now I can't log onto the 532 Dude - I get a 'connection refused' message - and even worse I now only have 17MB free in the 532's 128MB hdd although there is nothing listed in the 'files' sub-menu I can delete to free up space.

Can anyone:

1. Suggest how I might be able to log on and/or
2. Free up the space on the hdd I assume the unuseable Dude config is taking up?

Thanks.

To free up the space on the board you will need to netinstall.

Are you trying to login to the router or the dude?

Hi.

Uninstalling Dude seems to take out any files relating to it as this did free up the hdd again.

Leaves me with a problem, tho'.

I've an old but perfectly good but retired RB532A with 128MB hdd plus a 1GB CF I would like to run Dude from. I've installed RouterOS with the required packets + Dude 3.6 on it and still have about 60MB free on the system hdd. However the image of the Dude .bkf file I want to upload from an x86 server runs to nearly 58MB (does sergejs store his payslips in it?) and I know from past experience that if I try to do it, it will clog the system hdd as above.

Is there any way of getting the server on the 532 to upload the Dude import file to the CF disk rather than the system disk? Or once it's on the sytem disk to shift it to the CF disk to free up the system disk again?
