Routerboard 450g not cannot boot

Sun Nov 03, 2013 5:20 pm

As the title sais.
I get only one beep.

Serial connection gives this output
RouterBOOT booter 2.41

RouterBoard 450G

CPU frequency: 680 MHz
Memory size: 256 MB

Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..
trying bootp protocol......... failed
kernel loading failed
loading kernel from nand... OK
setting up elf image... OK
jumping to kernel code
System halted.

Problem is that I try to press any key but I cannot enter setup. Tried from windows and linux. No matter the timming I cannot enter setup.

Any ideas?

I'm no expert, I've never used netinstall and I don't even have Windows, BUT...

If you read this from the WIKI:

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall

It suggests, along with your routerboard's output "trying bootp protocol........ failed", that you can re-flash the firmware/kernel using a directly connected Windows machine.

Report back so that other people who get into the same situation know what works and what doesn't.

Good luck!

Success

The second option (hold down the reset button for netinstall) on the link you sent me did the trick.

Still I cannot get access to boot otpions through serial connection but that's another story.

Do you have any idea for which reasons the router crashed? For avoidance if possible.

Enjoy your karma
