Issues with Rb1100 & x86 & mikrotik V5.26

Wed Nov 20, 2013 1:00 am

Hi,

I have issues with both my Rb1100 & x86 if I install any any version more newer than 5.22 I would not be able to get the web-proxy up and running! I have on both a level 6 license each running and am really wondering what could be the problem!

In fact I am trying to add an external squid to my network and each and every time I do that and now input the requisite CLI commands my Mikrotik now goes blind so to speak! If I ping in the terminal www.Google.com I have a good response but what happens is that the 2nd interface that I used as the hotspot interface now refuses to pass traffic from the first interface
through to it!

I don't know if this means I should maybe try and look for a more ancient version of the routeros for both the x86 & rb1100 maybe the v4.17 perhaps?

My question here is that Would my license still be valid there? And also the CLI commands I want to use would they work in that version?

Thanks.

I have had similar problems from the top end of the 5.x series and the lower end of the 6.x series. I have tried 6.6 on a handful of RouterBoard types now and have been successful with it. You might try upgrading to 6.6 and see if that is more to your liking.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice but i tried the 6.6 and it just didnt work! it was hanging each time asked for a reboot and when i plugged an ethernet cable in it was always failing!

I now went into my archiives and found some earlier versions which i would try.
