Anyone know if the SR9 card is going to be supported by Mikrotik? (900Mhz Atheros)

I haven't seen anything on the forums regarding it.
We have tested it and it is really working at 900Mhz. As I understant they are converting the 2.4Ghz to 900Mhz....
Next week we will test in real enviromet (few km distance) and then we will have some results.
For now we can get approx: 5Mbps using 5Mhz channel; 10Mbps using 10Mhz channel; 20-25Mbps using G mode; 7Mbps using B mode.
For now in the RouterOS to get is working you should use these frequencies:
2422Mhz -> 922Mhz
2427Mhz -> 917Mhz
2432Mhz -> 912Mhz
2437Mhz -> 907Mhz
It is a workaround for v2.9.x till the v2.10. In v2.10 you will be able to select the 900Mhz frequencies directly.

As with all radios, NLOS performance will be entirely depend on what is causing the NLOS. Trees?, Buildings?, Hills?, Walls?, Multiple?, Thick obstructions?, Thin obstructions?, Fully blocked Fresnel?, 50% blocked Fresnel?, etc....
It is pretty much imposable to pre-determine NLOS performance, without knowing _exactly_ what is in the way. And even then, it isn't easy.
That said, 900Mhz will be better than 2.4Ghz at getting around things. Also OFDM helps compensate for multi-path, so in theory, it _should_ perform better than existing 900Mhz systems.

Well that would be nice but back in reality UBNT is a PITA to deal with direct, getting support directly from them is a mission and i doubt they would be willing to hand out details of their plans to MT.
I know of a group of people in my country tring to get some samples on loan to test for a country wide deployment, all up they were looking at buying 10k unit's+ of SR2 and SR5's, UBNT took a month to reply to their phone calls or e-mails and then insisted that they buy 100unit's - needless to say the group didnt and looked at other options

First of all - UBNT has been awesome to deal with as far as we were concerned. I do not know about your friends and what they were proposing, maybe there was some mis-communication, I don't know. Do you think that maybe they were trying to protect their dealer stucture that is in place? That is what a good company does. We have dealt with their support when MT was overdriving the SR2 cards. They were more than helpful, and helped to prove to MT that the problem was with them. They could have said it was MT's problem, and went on. They worked directly with MT to solve the issue. A rep from UBNT also occassional visits the forums to see about any comments that are made, to be proactive. You will see him post - although very rarely. His goal is to make sure the product is working properly - not increase sales. I have talked to him and have been very impressed with the company. I am not saying they are perfect, they have had troubles with production. Initially they did have some problems with a few cards, but they have corrected the issues. I'm surprised that UBNT hasn't tested their cards with Mikrotik already (from another forum it's obvious they haven't)...seems like it'd help them get the word out.
Anyway, where are the speed, range, and overall tests and opinions people? Looking forward to hearing how these do in the real world. Want to try some out but kind of holding back to see how the first round goes.

You do realize the "free" band starts at 903, not 900.

When I put the unit right next to each other I get great signal and get great throughput.. around 24meg UDP.
When I take them about 25 feet apart into another building.. IT falls to pieces and I can barely keep a connection, with ping times in the 500+ range

I use 900 canopy in other palces.. but the interface sucks.. I want MK!!

You are shooting yourself in the foot. Connect an antenna and get the radio/antenna out of your vehicle into the open air. Your mileage will improve and your life will become golden.I have 3 card in 3 different boxes

Wandering around with 27dB radios with no antennas is not a good idea.

Hmmm. Don't think I'm going to bite on that one, so that would suggest the main difference between us right now is that I have a working 5.4km SR9 link through fairly heavy trees and an obstructed fresnel and you have a radio with no antenna attached?when only checking for noise.. having no antenna is the best way to see the local noise

This is a production shot we set up June 13th, 5.4km or a little more than 3 miles long. Been running like a top ever since. RSSIs drop about 4dB in the rain, which considering the number of trees its going though seems about right. Throughput is about 3Mbit in each direction or 1.5 in both at once.
This shot is across water and treed land. Tree heights are 20-30M.
The customer, Donelda, has about 30M of trees from her house to where the land drops off down to the lake. This is dense deciduous forest crowns. In addition, the lower half of the Fresnel is obstructed by trees growing on two ridges between the customer and the AP.

In reality, if you can find a noise floor as good as -88 in the 900 band you are doing REALLY well. We are just lucky here and are using horizontal which eliminates much of the V-pol noise that is ubiquitous in 900, pun intended.wow that is great to see.. I see your noise floor is around -88. The card specs at -93 so that is a little high.. but I am encouraged to just go out and set mine up and see how it goes.. thanks so much for the info
