USB Issue connecting APC Back-UPS and RB951G-2hnD

Sun Jun 16, 2013 4:09 am

I really need to set a warning system up to tell me when any of my sites switch over to UPS power.

I bought a RB951G-2hnD because of its USB port and connected my APC Back-UPS CS 650 to it.

Unfortunately when I do this, the USB port itself disappears completely from the USB menu and is no longer listed. If I pull out the USB connection, it re-appears.
The USB port on the Mikrotik works fine when I connect a pen-drive. Also, if I plug the USB connection from the UPS in to my laptop, it works fine.

I've tried different versions of firmware, all with the same result. I guess these two pieces of hardware won't work together?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks to Mikrotik support for resolving the issue.

It's an easy fix. Use a USB Hub between and it fixes the issue.

 1 week trying to resolve this issue... I think its because the mikrotik only gives 4.8 [V] and my computer 5.1 [V].

Im going to the store to buy one of this USB Hub. Its your HUB powered with external AC-DC or its a simple HUB?.

A simple hub works fine. :)
