A new RB2011 user: basic questions

Fri Jan 24, 2014 11:59 am

I finally got my hands on a RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN. My first experience with Mikrotik.

I have everything working (home situation) as it should:
- wifi
- guest wifi
- firewall rules
- pptp

But I do have some questions:
- The position of the antennas seems different then the one I see on the web. I have one antenna on the right and one in the middle, instead of one on the right and one on the left. Seems odd?
- Web proxy: Is the RB2011 capable of running web proxy? When enabling, where does it save the cache? External HDD?
- I upgraded to 6.7. However: there is a menu with firmware information. Clicking on "upgrade" doesn't do anything...
- Are there some necessary tweaks that i should do?
- one antenna isn't attached like it should. Open up the RB2011?

thx!

Plisken; are you the owner of wirelessinfo.be? Are you JP?
When yes: we mailed some time ago according wifi channels.
When no: never mind :-)

While it doens't seem to be hard to upgrade the firmware, something goes wrong...
When clicking on "upgrade" nothing seems to happen. Will give it a try later today.

You have to restart the routerboard after click to complete the upgrade.
