setting p UPnP for gaming stations

Mon Feb 17, 2014 6:43 am

I have several RB433's running 5.26. This is the basic setup I have.

Each RB433 is connected to the WAN via eth1 and has a static public ip address
eth2,eth3 and wlan1 are on setup on a bridge and DHCP server is setup on this bridge and handing out private ip addresses, eth2 and bridge have static private ip addresses.
SRC NAT is on eth1 and the action is masquerade.

I do have UPnP enabled as follows

internal --> Bridge1
external --> eth1

Forced External IP is not configured.

I have several users behind these routers using Xbox's or PS3's that have a NAT "STRICT" on their gaming consoles. Is there something I have configured wrong concerning the UPnP? Could it be that the PAT also effects gaming? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

NO, not as of yet. I have found that with the RB433 and using PAT(port address translation) this seems to be an issue. I have performed all the steps mentioned on various other posts but, there always seems to be a couple users that cannot get their gaming stations to every work properly online. Since this is a college student housing facility, I am too worried about this problem right now but, I am still looking for a resolution to this. Let me know if you find anything.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Haven't got users with problems to play games. Problem is access is indicated as strict, which according to PS and games like battlefield is because ports is blocked. This cause gamers not to be able to view all the game servers. I of cause does not block any ports but have to use NAT because of limited public ip's.
