In that case how do you think that you can "split" an wireless card in two?

Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:10 am

Yes if you setup rx and tx on both chains you could attach each chain to its own antenna and point them in different directions. For example an omni for the hotspot and a directional outdoor antenna for a client.

All connections would come into the same WLAN network card so you may want to setup bypass rules so the client doesn't have to bother with the hotspot stuff.

Also be aware that your client would be sharing the wireless resources with the hotspot so it would not be like having a dedicated link.

I would probably recommend getting a dedicated device for the client like an SXT however I don't have enough understanding of your situation to make a good recommendation.

You can't not one radio card use as accesspoint and as client.

Do you mean that you wireless will connect to a accesspoint.
Would you like to than via the ethernet interfaces on the internet?

NO, in this model the wireless are integrated onboard, you can select only from this option:

[antenna A = main microFL connector onboard]
[antenna A = aux microFL connector onboard]

antenna A rx & tx
or
antenna B rx & tx
or
antenna A rx & Antenna B tx
or
antenna A tx & Antenna B rx

but you can not use as two distinct wireless module.

RB411A is only 802.11 b/g and not have MIMO.
Before answer in a post, is nice to read device physical characteristics.

Not totally true: the radio can be set [with License Level 4] as a-bridge with WDS, it act like client to other AP WDS and AP itself.

i want this configuration:

Wireless card to be wireless client for an AP and from that to give on ethernet to have internet in my lan.

Thank you
You can:
1) Reset any configuration;
2) add dhcp server on ether1 (by wizard);
3) add dhcp client on wlan1
4) add on firewall nat rule:src-nat out:wlan1 action:masquerade
5) open wireless / security profile and modify default profile with the password of AP (if AP have not password, skip this passage)
6) from wireless click on scan, select your AP from the list, and click on connect.

Done [I hope, if I not miss anything...].

Hy,

I did what you say and is not working for me.

i have internet on dhcp modem - i create dhcp client on wlan1 and dhcpserver on ether1 after that i make the nat masquerade out interface wlan1.

and is now working. i receive unidentified network.

ps: my wlan1 was conected to ess.

Thank you,

Think about upgrade RouterOS to 4.17,
upgrade licence key,
then upgrade to RouterOS 5.26,
upgrade the bios [firmware] to 3.10,
then upgrade to RouterOS 6.11...

wait one moment, i fix the script....

Changes to be made in your config:
Miossing IP Address on ether1 192.168.10.1/24
on wlan1 advanced, hw-retries must be 7, the standard. Not the old value 4 [...]
src-address on DHCP server must not be specified [...]
on DHCP network, the DNS server must be 192.168.10.1
DNS client/server are not active,
DNS have "old" max-udp-packet-size, now must be 4096
Also are missing both DNS [if the DHCP client do not provide DNS]
neighbor discovery are disabled on wlan1
