Repeater Bridge

Wed May 21, 2014 9:00 pm

Can this scenario be done with a mikrotik?

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Im ... Bridge.jpg

I have been trying to find a tutorial and all of them point to wds which in my case is not possible. I was able to make a bridge to the wired part ,but the virtual ap doesn't work. How come a 35us$ router can make this and i haven't been able to duplicate this on 2 models of mikrotik.

Can somebody pls save me from my ignorance and point me to the proper tutorial.I do understand that the bandwith will be cut in half but that limitation i can live with.

Obviously yes.

Obviously, is the way.

And why not? There is one good reason?

Depend on how you are configured the Routers.

>>>How come a 35us$ router can make this and i haven't been able to duplicate this on 2 models of mikrotik.
Because probably you do not have the skill required.

You have more than 150Mbps Internet? Not? Do not worry about bandwidth split (300 / 2 = 150 > LAN speed)

1 reason:

The original Ap is from the cable company so i have no access to it. just the wireless passphrase.

Skill:
CCNA begs to differ.

Must be specified on the first post, for better understand what hardware you use,
I have understand than you have two routerboard mikrotik ("on 2 models of mikrotik").
Simply use router as Internet source and the two router you have for provide wireless connection with WDS...

>>>Skill: CCNA begs to differ.
I use the word "probably", not surely...

>>>Tutorial:
>>>..... great answer!!!!!
no answer because I not want search for you the guide and because I do not know if a guide exist.

You have chose the wrong forum, you must go on the forum of the "software solution".

And I not troll you, simply I write how the things are (or appearing from what I understand).
(and if you read my signature...)

P.S.: What is your language?

What's the reason for a virtual AP?

Put the "Client side" MT into "Station Bridge" mode (which only works with MT devices on both ends) and everything is fine.
The only thing that won't work is the client-side Wireless AP unless you have a second wlan interface in your client-side MT device.
Mixing modes (AP/station) is not possible within the same hardware interface.

I thought my question was very basic that's the reason i used this section.

Maybe your answers come a little to aggressive, i don't mind getting schooled every now and then, but no help, no answer ,that's just wrong.

I could just pay the activation fee for dd-wrt and be done with it. but to my eyes seems very strange nobody has encounter this same problem. Their has to be a way to do this in routeros. And if their is a happy ending for everybody.

Ps. Spanish.

Wds works only between mikrotik devices and not with third party devices.

False, work also with other two competitors, but only "static wds" mode.

Rextended is right !!!! i got tired and paid activation for the other software and its working flawlessly. To bad under RouterOS this cannot be done.
