RB951U/G on 5Ghz or dual band

Wed May 21, 2014 6:50 pm

It would be nice to have an integrated solution like RB951U/G but with 5Ghz or dual band.

As 2,4Ghz becomes more saturated and more newer client devices support both bands it would be really usefull to have an integrated Routerboard device that could work on 5Ghz for soho deployments.

I know it can be build using RB935/RB435/RB433 boards, an enclosure, a mini-pci radio and a couple of dipoles but the costs for large deploys (20+) is significanty higher, and the mounting time makes the costs even higher. It would be an excesive cost (components and mounting time) to use a DIY device instead of an integrated product.

Several of the vendors have pre-built 5GHz solutions which are similar although a little more expensive.

Why should i change to another vendor? It's just a suggestion to Mikrotik to let them know that in my opinion it would be interesting to add 5ghz support to the soho wireless line of products. I've used many different brands and after all I'm very confortable working with RouterOS. After many years using Mikrotik i've got lots of scripts, many preconfigurations and a few apps and development libraries build using the RouterOS API.
