Packet loss issues.

Wed Apr 09, 2014 11:24 pm

Hello there, for the past year or so i have been using this router "r8751g-2hd" the componay im now with is called cybermoor, pretty much land line internet sucks in my area due to the exchange being so old so this was our best option to get a faster internet its pretty much a form of satellite internet i guess beamed from a local school to our village.

I've been having crazy packet loss issues while playing video games over the past year and i thought I'd post on here just to understand the router abit more really.

One thing I'd be interested to know if its possible is to access the router like i was my old one, see what devices are connected and limit specific devices to so much bandwidth to see if anything is hogging bandwidth to cause this issue. If anyone can assist me please give me a message.

Thanks
Ryan.

Yes, that is possible. You will want to check out the wiki on queues http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Queue. Simple Queues is probably where you want to start. There are also several videos on tiktube and youtube that show how to setup the queues.
