Help configur my Ip settings for my radios please.

Sun Jun 01, 2014 10:38 am

I Need help, I do not know what to set my radios on.

I use a ISP that uses a DHCP to give me an IP. I then connect that modem to a switch, then to a radio, and also a Laptop. I am having issues getting it to work. I assume its an IP problem.

To this minute, The Radios are set to Disabled.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance!

And where is the question about MikroTik equipment?

You can get better help if you write more generically, for example: "Help!".

Have you tried contacting the ISP for help or details on DHCP assignment?

I do not understand the first reply, I thought this was a mikrotik only forum? I'm sorry i'm not that bright here :/

My radio is connected to a switch, the laptop is also connected to the same switch. Works great! the ISP moden is also connected to the same switch, works great!

Problem, when Laptop at switch is surfing all is great, but when computer from location B Radios over to the Radio connected to the switch I think there is an Ip error and the isp modem doesn't know what to do or gets confused. I think the radio at the switch where the modem is connected should assign an Ip to the computer at location B, right? This way there will be no confusing like i'm having, duno.

Could I not solve this problem by making Radio at location A (Hotspot AP) and set up some sorta DHCP To assign laptop at location B a Ip? This way the Laptop at Location A wouldn't interfere with the Ip at location B? I'm very sorry I am new at this.

Thanks Again, In advance!

Nobody does not know? I assume I will set up a DHCP on my Radio A and set Radio B as Dynamic in this case. Where are the techs on this forum?

You are probably switching / bridging everything. But you have to implement nat with masquerade just behind the modem because you have more devices than your isp is willing to assign ip addresses to you.

I just realized that my radio is plugged into a Linksys Router!

So why must I do all this nat etc,,,?

Why does the linksys Router not assign the MikroTik Radio an Ip? How could I configure that inside the Mikrotik radio to accept whatever Ip the Linksys Router give it?

I'm starting to realize that My Linksys Router should already be assigning addresses. It has 4 ports on the back and I dont look to use more than that.

Ok so I realize that If I connect A router to the modem then I shouldn't have to fool with much. the router should assign the laptop connected to that router a ip, then I just have to make sure the radio thats connected to the router is properly programmed?

What should I set the Radios WDS to thats connected to the router? Disable or Dynamic? right now its on Disable and working.
