Here's what was similiar on all of these so far:
- all were RouterOS versions 5.7 or 5.8, upgraded to 5.12
- all were firmware version 2.36, upgraded to 2.38

I've had two bricked 751Us... in case it helps anyone figure out if they can be identified by serial number here are mine:

I bought 6 of them in December and only now got around to put them into service. Of the six, four are now bricked (fail after applying a very simple config... change system password, remove DHCP server, re-ip and add a WPA2 key). In some cases they ran for 8-10 hours before failing, in others they failed almost immediately after config'ing. After the 1st two failures I powered them on (otherwise idle) for a couple of days to see if it was just power related... flashing lights of death only happen after trying to push some data through the router.

Serials for the 4 I have in front of me are all :

I'll test the other two tonight. I already contacted my reseller who wants me to get an RMA from MikroTik and then get an RMA from them (reseller) since it's been 2 months since I purchased the units. (Got busy with other projects)

I've gone from ecstatic to disillusioned on these pretty quickly... Hopefully it *is* just a bad batch and I can get some replacements that work as expected.

I to went from ecstatic to doubtful, to just plain aggravated; and I'm afraid its not over yet. I cringe every time a client calls me that I have installed one of these at because I am expecting the worst now.

I was at a client's today where I had to goto BestBuy and purchase 2 linksys routers in order to be PCI DSS compliant to ensure a completely separate, private network for the POS's and public WI-FI. I'm sure the Mikrotik could have been setup to do that with only the 1. And the thing about it is, is that I had one of the Mikrotik's that had not gone bad yet with me, but I wouldn't chance using it because I figure its just a matter of time before they all go bad. In their current configuration, this one client in particular will be needing about ~150 routers for a project during the year. I don't know what it's going to be yet, but you can probably guess what is not on my short list of manufacturer's I'll be using.

Mikrotik should really step up to bat on this and not make the customer suffer by having to wait for repairs to be sent back and forth to Latvia and just go ahead and credit the dealers and let them send out cases like this with known good replacements.

I'm sorry that you got such issues. We discovered a few problematic devices at the very beginning of manufacturing, and quickly solved the issue. The ones you have (with flashing lights) need to be repaired/replaced through warranty process. I can assure you that only the first batch contained such issue, and only for a few devices. This was resolved immediately.

Mine sat on a shelf for over a year (as a backup) and now I appear to be SOL.
I run the RB751G no issues for the past 2 years... so I wil continue to use MTK, just sucks that my "new" backup router was defective.
I should have tested it and then shelved it. my bad?

Contact the seller and see if they can replace it maybe
