Firewall mangle DSCP support

Thu Jul 20, 2006 10:03 am

Hi,
We have problem with packet marking on our network.
Schema: 16 networks ---linux firewall----DMZ with some other networks ---- Mikrotik router ---- Internet.
We need mark all packets for traffic shaping. We dont know any usable solution at the moment. Solution by packet TOS marking in linux firewall fail - only TOS 0x2, 0x4, 0x8 and 0x10 is avaiable. Solution with DSCP may work, but current Mikrotik 2.9.22 version do not support DSCP match filter. Can you help me? Any Idea?

I'd like to ask, if there is planned a DSCP match filter in firewall rules ? I know there is a TOS match already, but that is not compatible with ECN. I need mark packets by DSCP on my linux firewall and than mark by Mikrotik router 2.9.22 for next use - HTB shaping.
Thanks in advance, Vladimir

Hi swiss,

Please read a little bit more about dscp. I represents , I think the first 3 of 8 bits for the TOS field. For example, tos=64 is equivalent to dscp=4 or somethink like that.

Anyway, it will be good to has a general dscp support in MikroTik

Regards,
Stanislav
