OSPF Changing its state Randomly

Wed Oct 08, 2014 5:48 am

Hi all,

I have a weird one.

I have two routers that have and OSPF partnership between the two and are connected via a liscenced 3Ghz backhaul.

The other Night the OSPF link failed and I lost monitoring for a brief moment (to devices behind router2). Luckily I did not use that link for anything more than monitoring at the time.

Before you ask about the link itself I will tell you that it was strong as could be during this time. Infact the link it self (not subject to loosing connection since it was not through the OSPF link reported 15 time during this issue with no reason to think the link way bad.

Here are the logs from each end.

Router1:
Oct/07/2014 01:46:08 route,ospf,info OSPFv2 neighbor 10.200.0.1: state change from Full to Down
Oct/07/2014 01:53:44 route, ospf, info Database Description packet has different master status flag
Oct/07/2014 01:53:44 route,ospf,info new master flag=false
Oct/07/2014 01:53:44 route,ospf,info OSPFv2 neighbor 10.200.0.1: state change from Exchange to 2-Way

Router2:
Oct/07/2014 01:46:15 route,ospf,info OSPFv2 neighbor 10.200.0.2: state change from Full to Init
Oct/07/2014 01:53:43 route,ospf,info OSPFv2 neighbor 10.200.0.2: state change from Full to 2-Way
Oct/07/2014 01:53:43 route, ospf, info Ignoring Link State Acknowledgment packet: wrong peer state
Oct/07/2014 01:53:43 route,ospf,info state=2-Way

Anyone have any ideas as to what would or could cause this? I just simply don't have any explanation for it.

Can you post the output of both
/routing ospf export
and
/ip address print
please?

There is not enough information in your post to assist.
