PPPoE Session Resets?

Mon May 15, 2006 6:53 pm

I notice On my pppoe sessions, that all of my clients with linksys routers reset the session at the same time. Looking at the list, every person with a non-dlink router has the same (or very close to) active time beside thier name, and then every day or so they will all disconnect and reconnect at the same time. Anyone know why?

Yes Im seeing the same thing here on Linksys with DD-WRT with 2.9.23
APs. I have an idle time of 1hour in the profile, and seems this expires
and out everyone goes?.. Doesnt happen on Asus/with DD-WRT though.

PPP(oE) Idle timeout on client side is probably whats going on...
Unless, for example, they (Linksys/D-Link) want to "fix" memory leak or fragmentation issues by rebooting every day...

Do the active users expire as well?

They all reset, I mean every single person resets at the same time. They all connect again within 30 seconds and they stay good for another 13 hours or 2 days or whatever

I just posted a long message and one of the problems I am seeing on the PPPoE server seems similar to this. The thread is here: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=10216. Is the sessions dropping problem seem similar to what you are seeing?

Thanks,

Dave
