4g modem MF823 and SMS

Tue Feb 03, 2015 10:18 am

Hi,

I have a 2011UiAS Routerboard. I replaced an old 3g modem with a new Huawei MF823 for backing wan. It's available in the LTE interface and after configuring works ok.
With the old 3G modem I can send SMS messages, but with the new one I can't. The sms tool can find the modem for sending SMS messages but it's there working ok as 4g data modem.
Am I missing something ?

thx

Does SMS need a serial interface like AT commands do? If this is the case, you probably can't send a SMS with the LTE interface.
Can you send a SMS by disabling DirectIP and connecting via PPP interface?

In WinBox, System->Ports, click the firmware button, the check the box "Ignore DirectIP modem".
Reboot the router and then give it a go. I don't have that modem or used it so I can't help you set the PPP interface up for that.

You can also go back to DirectIP if PPP doesn't work. Remember though, the modem will be capped somewhere around 14-25mbps using PPP.
