RB2011 setup - Pointers please (2nd WAN port and Failover)

Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:38 pm

I have just received my new RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN.

I have a ADSL connection and a DraytekVigor 120 ADSL modem that I can use and I also have a Huawei b593s which I want toi use as a backup link if my ADSL goes down.

So far I have re-installed RouterOS as my router would not boot and I have enabled the wifi.

Using the default configuration with the Huawei b593s in Ether 1 I can get internet access.

Now I THINK I need to:
Configure another port for the second (ADSL) WAN connection.
Configure something to make send the PPPoE stuff to the Vigor 120
Configure something so that if the ADSL link fail the Huawei b593s link will take over (and hopefully fallback when the ADSL comes back)

Does that list sound sensible or are there other things I need to do, I know I need DHCP DNS etc setting but will the default setting handle that?

Although detailed instructions would be great, pointers to the correct sections that I can read would be appreciated so that I can learn about this router.

At the moment I am a but overwhelmed by the number of options and the terminology, although I work in IT I don't know very much about networking,

Thanks

Anyone?

Especially how do I find out how to:
Configure another port for the second (ADSL) WAN connection.
Configure something to make send the PPPoE stuff to the Vigor 120
Configure something so that if the ADSL link fail the Huawei b593s link will take over (and hopefully fallback when the ADSL comes back)

there is no need to set up DHCP or ... for this thing. just need to config your failover setup.
