It is nice to sell a rack enclosure, just to stuff equipment into it like garbage.
If the NAS does not fit on top of the PC, it will be okay to turn it 90 degrees.

Another good find, an offset antenna with an "all purpose plastic connector box" used instead of a head.
Bandwidth reaches a lightning fast 1 Mbit/sec when the weather is fine.

No, but I don't know for sure who did the installation, so no names.

This is a new client of ours, who had very low standards in IT before realizing it hurts the business.
We literally find new kludges every day.

Like this nice, twinned power cable. Having everyting on an UPS is a good thing, right?

Soldering wires from back of the pcb conducts better and reduces number of connectors used. But this is not so bad if someone wants to keep warranty. Worse are the holes without fastening cables.

I have done this a couple of times, when there was 1 cable run available and 2 connections needed on 100Mbps.
And it works flawless.

There are even commercial produced adapters for that. 1 RJ45 plug to 2 RJ45 jack. I have a couple of those in my cable box.

Some added fun . The power switch for that Netgear switch sits on the cable.
You can get everything setup perfectly , walk away from a site and then have another cable touch it due to gravity or have it fall down to the base of the enclosure and the whole site goes down.If I recall those switches are unmanageable so you cant even use Zabbix or Zenoss to ping the damn thing to know when/if it goes down.

Not that I know anything about this

I was trying to get a better signal, from about 40 feet high on this tree, with a 36 foot ladder...... The hardest part was tieing the zip ties to the elastic band to hold it on the tree. Have to trim the tree a bit to get a better signal.

Metal RB after one year outdoors, Ventspils. We also have experience with ubnt aluminium boxes and some aluminium antenna head units. Aluminium erodes so easily in those seashore locations.

I was minding my own business (installing my HAM radio antenna stuff) on the top of the 7 floor block where I live, when I noticed something glowing red in the dark, and when I came closer, I found this... The tube is the air exhaust from the toilets of the flats

Also note the "neat" indoor UTP cable management on the roof

I have often gone to a site where they have worked and ripped all the cables out and told them to do it properly. If I am not prepared to pay for the work, I can't expect the client to.

I don't have pictures for this, and it wasn'tma bad installation.

I went to Mozambique to build a VHF repeater at the Cahora Basa damn. We flew around in a helicopter until we found a suitable site that was on top of a peak that was inaccessible except via Helicopter. After choosing a site, we started flying in everything and built the plinth, repeater room, solar array, and mast. When we got back to South Africa we were told to go back to Mozambique as everything was offline. Got back to the peak and found everything was stolen except the bricks and mortar. Even the door frame was gone. What amazes me if those batteries need to people to lift, and even then it was a struggle, but somehow they managed to carry them down the mountain cliffs. Now there is a guard up there 24 hours a day.
