Problem updating RouterOS 6.25 to 6.27 on a MikroTik x86 based architecture (server)

Mon Mar 09, 2015 1:11 pm

Hello there,

I'm having a problem updating my MikroTik x86 with license 4 router from RouterOS version 6.25 to 6.27. I've been able to update it just fine for a few years since we bought the license and last week after everyone stopped working and went home I was making some maintenance and one of the things scheduled was updating RouterOS of our company's server-router x86.

1º - Tried the "Download and update" option in the "System>Packages" menu, as usual the router rebooted but for my surprise it remained in version 6.25;

2º - Tried to update it manually by uploading the version 6.27 files for x86 systems to the files section through Winbox, rebooted, it still remained in version 6.25;

3º - Tried to uninstall the 6.25 packages and rebooted to see if after making another attempt to install 6.27 manually it would update through the files that I already had uploaded earlier. Didn't worked either, after this step I encountered another problem...now I only have the "System" package installed and all the other packages disappeared such as PPP and DHCP for example, tried another reboot to see if the 6.27 version would finally be installed and nothing happened, it remained in 6.25;

4º - Removed 6.27 files and uploaded the files from 6.25 again to see if at least I could go back to the initial state and have all the packages from 6.25 working again and rebooted, nothing happened...only the "System" package from 6.25 remains and I'm being unable not only to update RouterOS but also I can't re-install the packages that I had previously.

This is weird...this never happened before, don't know if this was an error from my system of some sort, or a specific x86 RouterOS 6.25 error or if my license doesn't allow any more updates?

Thanks in advance to everyone

What did the Log say?
Nothing, for the router it was just a normal reboot :?

Try an update again, and after it fails to do anything, post a Winbox screenshot that has both the System -> Packages and Files windows open, or a copy+paste of a terminal window showing the output from "/system package print" and "/file print"

Hello there,

First of all thank you all for your replies.

Meanwhile I did some testing, and after removing all files from the "Files" section in Winbox menu, rebooted, tried the "Download and upgrade" option again in the "System>Packages" section and finally the server/router x86 upgraded successfully to RouterOS version 6.27. And after that I was now able to install the other packages again :D

Some file was making some kind of conflit maybe causing the RouterOS not to upgrade to 6.27. For now, it looks like my problem is solved. Thanks again for all your help and effort with my MikroTik problem :)

Best regards

Hi,

got the same problem.
what I did:

Winbox -> System - Filelist, then I delete everything exept the *.key file.
Afterwarts I have done a update under Quicksettings, check for update

Now I have version 6.27

maybe it can help you.
