Hi All.
I plan to install a RB2011 Router in Network Operation Center (Colocation) which is 2h faraway.

What is the best solution if fail to connect to the router ? For e.g. configuration issue or after a software update ?

From the Colocation provider there is some functionality for remote servicing:

KVM over IP (not possible because the board has no Keyboard / Screen I/O)
Web reset of Power
Remote hands

Following came in my mind :
Run automatically a script with default configuration after reboot (need Web reset Option)
Run a customized script after reset (needs Remote Hands)

Any other suggestions?

Have everybody some experience with Remote Servicing faraway ? How often is Hands-On really needed ? Maybe after Software Update or other issues ?

Remote ssh -> serial terminal server device would be good to get console access.

Or if they don't have such a thing, you could get an embedded linux system that has a serial port and monitor port on it - (think Raspberry Pi) have the remote KVM service connected to this, and the serial port to your Mikrotik's console port.

This + web-power-reboot service should be able to give you everything you need.

This is my private pleasure, so the RSM 8R8 is a nice device, but it is defently unbudgeted
May be i'm lucky enough to get this support from the provide.

I love the idea with the PI as fail over consol access device, but this is a little to much effort at the moment. May be if i need to drive that often to the provider that make me madden
(Currently i have 1 HE, therefore the PI need to adapt or insert to the RB2011 19" Chassis and i need a second uplink)

If the hosting provider gives the keyboard and mouse connections from their own IP-kvm, then you don't need to network attach the Pi - just connect their kvm cables and a serial cable to the console of the 2011.
(If Pi doesn't have serial, I'm sure there's a similar tiny-board PC that will)

Ah, you are right... on other hand the IP-kvm is 10 Euro, the Uplink 5 Euro per Month..

Then you could make an ssh account on the Pi that immediately connected to serial terminal port.
