Port Speed Limitation

Sun Mar 29, 2015 5:08 pm

Hello All,

I would like to get some advices from you people.

Is there a list of terminology via which I can compare the terms used in Mikrotik with Cisco? Because i am more fimiliar with Cisco and find that easy compared with Mikrotik. But slowly becoming a FAN of Mikrotik. Anyhow, i am still having difficulty understanding terms of Mikrotik. e.g in cisco its Classmap and in Mikrotik its Mangle.

And,
I have connected 2 sites with wireless PtP link. The wireless link is 28Mbps. Behind those outdoor Wifi devices (NanoBeam - Ubiquiti) are RB750GL on both sides.
How can I tell RB750GL that the port on which WIFI device is connected, should limit itself to only 25Mbps and not give a 1Gbps throughput. ?

Best Regards,

Safiullah

To change whole speed of TX and RX of Ethernet port, just change Bandwidth(TX/Rx) as you wish.

I don't know what are you going to do, But maybe using Queues would be better choice. You can specify which IP should have limitation.

Thank you very much, this is what i was looking for.

Can you please help me with one more thing ?
I have my asterisk voip on the IP 192.168.0.150 I want to prioritize traffic so that I don't get choppy/bad calls. This is the settings i have done.

/ip firewall mangle
chain=prerouting action=mark-connection new-connection-mark=VoIP SIP passthrough=yes src-address=192.168.0.150 log=no log-prefix=""

chain=prerouting action=mark-connection new-connection-mark=VoIP SIP passthrough=yes dst-address=192.168.0.150 log=no log-prefix=""

chain=prerouting action=mark-packet new-packet-mark=VOIP passthrough=no connection-mark=VoIP SIP log=no log-prefix=""

/queue simple
name="VoIP Traffic" target="" parent=none packet-marks="" priority=1/1 queue=default-small/default-small limit-at=0/0       max-limit=1M/1M burst-limit=0/0 burst-threshold=0/0 burst-time=0s/0s
The above code is on an RB750GL, the devices connected to that are also written below. And I gona write the same code to the other RB750GL on the remote site connected via wireless link
RB750GL
(Port1) Internet Router
(Port3)Other servers
(Port5)Asterisk Server
(Port4) Switch for Computers with Softphones
(Port2) RB750GL (This is connected to wireless bridge of 25Mbps) - Other side also has RB750GL--> Switch for Computers with Softphones

I guess you can help me with this stupid explanation from my side :(
