LTE via USB working but w/o serial connection to LTE device

RouterBoard 433GL, RouterOS 6.23
with ZTE MF 823 LTE USB stick

Hello guys,
with a few manual tweaks I managed to get my lte usb stick running
(using the dhcp client for the lte device, removing the sim pin or
feeding the sim pin via the usb stick web interface (sic!)).
All the ip stuff works pretty well from there on.

But there seems to be no way to retrieve any information from the lte device,
that would be normally collected via the usb serial connection (see picture below).

maybe you can try to get that info using Fetch command from the modems web interface.

That's absolutely right, you can get some informations this 'fetch' call

/tool fetch url=http://192.168.0.1/index.html#status

but unfortunately I don't see the advance here in comparison to
browsing the status page of the lte usb stick with my favourite web browser directly.
There seems to be no way to feed the informations from the retrieved html file into the RouterOS web interface,
so I would need additional scripting for processing the html file.
Seems like programming work would be done twice here...

The feature is miss the most because of the not working usb serial port is the lte scanner utility...

Are there any plans to fully support usb over serial for this lte usb device in a future release??

i suppose the firmware of your ZTE MF823 is uncompatible with the RouterBoard 433GL.

Hello Mobicell,
this is a pitty, since the ZTE MF823 shows up in the mikrotik wiki in the section of supported 4G devices.

Therefore a little note would be cool so that other users won't rush into this anymore...

Concerning the driver, do you mean the embedded system on the LTE USB stick oder the driver used by
the RB433GL?

in wiki page there is a note for this modem that some settings are ignored which means that you don't get full functionality from this modem.

You can still try to load the PPP interface by going into the /port firmware menu and set the ignore-direct-ip-firmware to yes and reboot the router. Then if the modem has correct IDs you should see a USB port which you can use for the ppp-out interface where you could try to read the signal values. Just note that using PPP emulation mode you will not get the max speed as with lte interface emulation.

Hello
I just made my new ZTE MF823 to work with Mikrotik 6.28 as LTE device.
I rather prefer to use the modem as PPPdial out
So i changed System->Ports, click the firmware button, the check the box "Ignore DirectIP modem", reboot
Modem appeared ad USB device. I checked many serial port for data and info but no luck.
Cannot communicate with modem.
Anyone can help ?
