EoIP only "works" when tunnel-id = 0

Tue Jun 23, 2015 8:30 am

I have an EoIP tunnel between home and work Mikrotik routers. I setup static IP for both EoIP interfaces with IP from 192.168.100.0 network. When I use tunnel-id for example 1 the EoIP tunnel will not connect. When I use 0 they will connect fine and I can ping each other EoIP tunnel interfaces.

Also other things are not working but for that I have other topics in this forum.

Does anyone have any idea why it is not working?

You have set both ends of the tunnel to the same ID, correct?
I believe that both sides must match, and I know it does work, as I have several tunnels running on the same router, each with a different ID, matched at the other end.

There is only one tunnel on each Mikrotik. The tunnel-id must be 0 in order for them to see each other. Anything else will keep the tunnel down.

I do believe that that shows that you are wrong. My home CCR1016, with Tunnel ID 2414, the one and only tunnel on this router. As you can see, the tunnel is running. I know it's passing data because my VoIP phone works, which is what this tunnel is used for.

What RouterOS version? Have you tried 6.29.1?

Yes. I am using latest RouterOS. Still no matter what I use the tunnel only works with id 0.

Got it working. Now using PPTP to connect two Mikrotiks and then EoIP using their LAN IP addresses.

I also downgraded to 6.27 and when it was working upgraded back to latest 6.29.1.
