dhcp problem

Thu Oct 28, 2004 8:00 pm

In my opinion mikrotik is great but there are several functions that propably cannot be done with it. One of them is dhcp server which would both assigns static and dynamic leases. In my network I have registered customers who get their ip's from static leases list and unregistered who should get dynamic ip from pool and be automatically redirected do website with information about my network.

As far as I know It cannot be done but I come up with the idea to set up two dhcp servers: one for each interfaces (with static ip's numers) and the second assigned to bridge (which aggregate every internal interface) that would give out dynamic ip addresses. Is there any chance that this will work ? Thank you for reading this :)

Are you talking about Address Reservations here? If so then I have my MT issuing both static and dynamic IPs.

Use '/ip dhcp-server lease add' and specify both IP & MAC addresses for clients that you wish to have fixed IP addresses.

Regards

I'd like to have static IPs (/ip dhcp-server lease add) for registered users and dynamic IPs (and diffrent subnet) for unregistered IP on the same interface.

I have done this. I just put both subnets (MNAT & live) in the pool, the dynamic one first. Then I assigned statics out of the 2nd part of the pool (live IPs) . Just create two networks in the networks tab (DHCP SERVER) , and two ranges in the pool you pull from.
